Bloom,
Steven. No New Jokes (New York: Norton, 1977) 187 p.
It
is 1949 and a group of Jewish men meet in a Brooklyn diner to talk
and tell jokes. One of them meets a librarian, Mary Ryan, who is
accused of being a communist. She is denounced by a coworker, Mrs.
Eberhardt, who is a very unpleasant bigoted woman.
